If you want to let other people know where you took certain pictures, PhotoPlace can provide you with the necessary tools and with many other interesting features as well. The software is capable of geo-tagging photos, using data from GPX files. What's more, PhotoPlace can help you create Google Earth tours with your pictures.

The software is free and open source. It is compatible with all popular Windows versions and it provides full support for both 32 and 64-bit editions. Installing PhotoPlace is a quick and effortless task. There is no need to make any complicated settings and you don't have to meet any special requirements.

PhotoPlace comes with a tabbed user interface, on which you can make various tweaks, according to how you wish to geo-tag your photos. Although it is sufficient to load a series of pictures and a GPX file and to click a button, in the lower region of the interface, you can make many other tweaks along the way. Before starting the tagging process, you can choose to generate a KMZ or a KML file, which is essentially a Google Earth Layer for your tours.

Metadata can be edited for individual photos as well. All photos are listed on the second tab, where you can exclude single items if you want to. Their metadata can be edited on a separate window and it is not limited only to geographical information. It is also possible to simulate a geo-tagging process of all pictures, with only one click.

A key feature of PhotoPlace is the fact that its functionality can be extended through plugins. Installed plugins can be used on their own tab. The program comes with a few preinstalled plugins, for creating tours, processing GPX files or importing CSV data.

Pros

The software can geo-tag large numbers of pictures quite fast. It can also generate tours with your photos as Google Earth layers.

Cons

You can't geo-tag pictures using a map. PhotoPlace gives you the possibility of taking your friends on a virtual tour of the places you have visited and the best part is that it doesn't take a significant amount of effort.
